[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
We meet with all sorts of problems in our life, yet we need to be strong and carry on. Life is hard, huh?

Its New Year Day, most of the people are in a very happy mood, including me, as I was busy taking picture of a building nearby Komtar, Georgetown, I saw this man sitting there... and his expression tells me that lots of things had been going in his mind.

I took my camera and zoomed at him, and capture a few photos of him. Then I try to do some Photoshop works on this photo.

Using Adobe Photoshop 8.0 :
1. Select the whole man using the Magnetic Lasso Tool
2. Copy and Paste to another new layer
3. Desaturate the original background
4. Apply Radial Blur on the background [Method = Zoom, Quality = Good, Amount =15]
5. Adjust the contrast of the background to make it darker
6. On the new layer, I adjust the curve of the man to make it darker.
7. Duplicate 3 more layer of this man, set the opacity to 9% and move them slightly above, below and to the right of the original layer.
8. Using the eraser tool, i erase some of the edges of the oldman that looks too harsh.
9. Flatten image.
10. Resize, add frame and add texts.

Btw, i have a simple question for u guys that is doing lots of photoshop works. You guys resize the image (make it smaller) first then only do all the processing steps, or do all the processing steps first then only resize in the end?

I like this photo and hope you like it too.

Very good composition of this man. I find though, his skin is too red, but maybe that was from the lighting conditions. The desaturated background is nice, also the radial blur.
In answer to your question: It is always a good idea to resize at the end of any post processing. Then do the sharpening last before saving for the web. I hope this helps.
Sorry, out of points for today.

I love your title and your pp. Good work!

i like your idea but the top part of his head appears a little fake due to too much curves adjustment...he stand out too much..in my opinion. i love the way you captured his haggard look in such a spontaneous way....another setback is the background tends to demand for attention because of the radial blur, i think.

Great title, and good capture.
Thanks for sharing,
Liz

There are some rough edges in the picture but other than that I think it is ok. The man's skin is a bit too saturated. Although I use a lot of PS as a side skill of my profession but seldom use it for photo editing or photo PP so I am still pretty new at it. As for me, I do resize after PP I think extra pixels allow easier and exact manipulation.

Sorry but I had better arsenic !
Very good shot and post process, i like it very much !
The man to red ? i don't agree :the constrast is bigger ! He think too much, so he will burn !
