hello everyone,

another long pause for my participation in Treklens. This time i'm wish to share with all of you a little project i was working on during my abscence.

have u seen how hard it was for the visually impaired struggle on the streets?
they never have any idea what sunshine looks like,
and they will never know how beautiful the colors of the rainbow are,
yet sometimes,
they 'see' so much better than us,
they listen more intently,
they use their hearts to make up for their what their eyes can't see....
and most of all,
they are just as independent,
they do not need our pity,
only our understanding and support....

i was working on a project named The Sunshine Pathway Project. it is a project to bring some sunshine into the visually impaired at a home name St Nicholas, a center for them to learn how to be independent and stand on their own.

the problem is, every day, they risk their lives walking on pedestrian pathways that are unsafe, crossing roads and using vehicular access that are extremely dangerous even for sighted people...

to design for them, first of all we must learn to understand their problems and difficulties....

we did an experiment, one of my office mate walked the whole way from the center to a nearby hospital, convenience center, and also to the bus stop which is their usual route.

this was one of the experience that opened up my eyes to so many things we have looked past.... i began to 'see' and i really wish to share this with all of u.

Rediscovering our surroundings without using our eyes; only by walking in their shoes we realise how fortunate we are, with that realization in mind, only we can design with conscience and do what we can to make a difference for them; to show that they are not alone.

i took many photos, and i could not know which to post to share with all of u, so i've compiled this, i hope i can get the message across. sorry if the montage is not of good composition.....it was hard for me to figure out how to show all the process.....

have a nice day......i hope i have left something for you all to ponder and reflect upon.

pls tell me what u think.

Hi Eleen :) glad you are back again. I found this is meaningful :D & its remind me a word's that the theacher spoke, i don't like that time.... but his words... i never forget. He said: "Most in the accident cases, majority of them who have naked eye are the innocense? but not for the blind people." & this such big question for me for a longtime. Till then i realize our eyes is such a Big Liar.. never judge think correctly... Thanks for sharing with us :D I'm appreciate so much.

Strong image and words use to capture awareness in the society.
I like the last one where the girl has her hands towards the lens. Cool!

all the best for the project!

Yes I think you've got the idea across... it is good as it is quite quietly disturbing to think of the world without site... special as photographic enthusiasts...

I would strongly suggest you read a H.G. Wells short story "Country of the blind."

And if you can share it with some of these people... I'm sure it will be great for them to hear. Perhaps it will need some translation? :)

Great to see you here... I must also post something, was taking some nice sunsets lately... :)

As photographers your reflections are indeed thoughts that we cannot avoid. And it is so good of you to want to get it across. But as you say yourself, there are a lot of photos. I think just one or maybe a montage of two would have conveyed the message better. But at least your note does.
