Hope for a better year

Thought I try a candle shootout again after a long while. Since I dont have any plans with my wife this new year eve (as most celebration had been cancelled to give tribute to the victims of the tsunami). So I thought it was a good time to play with candles.
I set up the candle above a platic chair that I have. But it was a bit challenging to have the candle stand up straight on top of the smooth surface, so the main candle was leaning sideways.
I took a lot of shots with multiple candles in the background all blurred but they were not shallow enough. Also playing with lightning a match again but really hard to get the timing right and I almost ran out of matches.
Lastly i played with lightning another candles. This was much easier to control and this is the one I like. It is unfortunate the main candle leans towards left like running away from the other candle. Maybe it gives a sense that the year is going away now and set up for a new year.
Happy New Year to all of you again. |

Thank you Raymond for lighting our way into a brighter year. Like the candle let us all move forward.
Thanks for sharing,

A picture that speaks a thousand words. well-conceived...like the lighting. The colors are also very good...minimally powerful.
Hpe too it would be better;
Nice expression

Great idea for a photo. Very symbolic of the world right now. I like how the red candles fade into black. Well done!
