My Chinese New Year holiday is finally over. It was a very eventful holiday for me, travelling close to 1000km within a week visiting in laws in the north and parents in the south of Malaysia.

This picture was taken during Chinese New Year eve in my hometown south of Malaysia. Althought fireworks are illegal in Malaysia I still see a lot of fireworks being released in my hometown openly. I guess the authority is also powerless to prevent this during this celebrative season where firecrackers are part of the celebration of Chinese New Year.

I took quite a lot of shots along with my brother that night in front of my house. A few turn out quite nice but I like this one more because of the silhoutte and the redness in the picture. Hope you like it.

Happy New year! Très bel effet de ciel embrasé et d'ombres. Je regrette que la photo manque un peu de netteté, cependant. Bravo pour le partage !

Nice nostalgic shot Raymond. Interesting note. The silhouette is really impressive against the red sky with the burst of light. All this handheld too. Remarkable shot well done.

Peter

Your capture is magical, Raymond. Did you know that if you stare at the red flame at the tip of the first flare that it actually appears to flicker?? What a fun photo. It really works..... You have created an optical illusion. Great job!....:O)

Spectacular. I thought it was a bolt of lightning! Well Done.

Hi Raymond,

Nice color of the firework display there. I would like to see some new fireworks again next week as the CNY is just a week away.

Happy Chinese New Year!!

Hong
