Zebra Dove?

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| Been a while since my last visit & upload. Looking out for something to shoot last weekend to test my new lens but found nothing interesting. This is the best I could come up with. Shot the moment the bird spotted me. Another shot in WS taken when the bird was unaware of my presence. Tell me which one you prefer. I'm not good with macro & close up. I know this is not close enough but it is the closest I could get with the lens. Thanks for viewing. Regards. |

Hi Latif,
a good exercise/experiment. IMHO both shots need a closer zooming & better focus.
the right pov will help you avoid the distractions from branches/twigs. the BG is fine enough.
Thanks for sharing

hi Latiff
Good composition and settings. For a good close up, you may wish to get extender/adaptor of 2.0x for your 200mm f/2.8 lens. For Malaysian birds, 200mm is not really useful to hunt for subjects, from my experience. And a tripod is always not easy for our birds too, unlike elsewhere in Canada the birds there are not that aloof as here?
No hurry about buying additional equipment and burn your pockets, just try experimenting and shoot more.

Many thanks for your kind words on Firework .
Hi Latiff. Thanks for visiting my TL. Just to let you know, I also have the same ID in TN...lol. Yes, this is zebra dove or ring dove. The bigger terkukur is the spotted dove. You have captured this one in good perch in natural surrounding. The plumage is rather well exposed for a wide view and a tighter crop is useful for bird but you'll need to shoot RAW with better zoom. Well done and thanks for sharing. Regards. Jusni
p/s: ws is good too :-)
