Hi Folks,

I am posting here a white lotus. Here is what I found in the Net about this beautiful flower.

Nelumbo is a genus of aquatic plants with large, showy, water lily-like flowers commonly known as lotus or sacred lotus.

The generic name is derived from the Sinhalese word Nelum. There are two species in the genus, the better known of which, N. nucifera, or "Sacred Lotus," is the well-known National Flower of India.

There is residual disagreement over which family the genus should be placed in. Traditional classification systems recognized Nelumbo as part of the Nymphaeaceae (water lily) family, but traditional taxonomists were likely misled by evolutionary convergences associated with an evolutionary shift from a terrestrial to an aquatic life style.

In the older classification systems it was recognized under the order Nymphaeales or Nelumbonales. Nelumbo is currently recognized as its own family, Nelumbonaceae, as one of several distinctive families in the eudicot order Proteales. Its closest living relatives are shrubs or trees (Proteaceae and Platanaceae).

These plants are unrelated to the bird's-foot trefoils and deer-vetches of the genus Lotus.

Thanks for viewing and have a great weekend.

Agoes

Many thanks for your kind words on Dragon fruit .

Hi Agoes,

I'll be honest. The one thing that impresses me about this photo is that bee hovering over it. I still could not get a good quality shot of insects flying around. I admire how you could be so patient to wait for the moment to press that shutter button.

The striking contrast between the white flower and the dark greenish background is a very good touch. I also love that bit of yellow in the centre of the lotus. Yes, I like.

TFS.

Regards,
Alvin

PS- I salute you for the neat and outstanding work in photography.

Asalamualaikum Bro,

Great done bro.!

Hello Agoes,
Never seen a white one before. Have seen the common pink ones and a purple one in a friend's garden.
A fine composition with razor sharp details. What makes it more interesting is having the little fellow buzzing towards the flower. My recent visit to Penang's Butterfly Farm was very frustrating. Capturing insects moving or flipping their wings was not exactly an enjoyable experience, for me at least.
This is a very, very good capture. Love your work!

Best regards,
Sharina

hi Agoes

Superb macro of the flower and a fine inclusion of the insect. The strong light has provided a good contrast. Well composed and sharp. I see you are using 1/3000 due to strong light condition.
