[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
There are times when I really face a delimma on what to do with a photograph. This is one of those times. I remain undecided about posting this photo for months. Everytime I look at it, I thought it is not worthy for a post, lacking feature attractions and perhaps the foreground is just a bit dark for my taste (but now I concluded that the sun's angle of light could not possibly brighten up the valley seen here). Anyway, I am posting it now to see what you think of it.

During our return leg of Sabah tour, we stayed overnight at Kundasang valley for its cool weather and early next morning as soon as I opened my eyes, I grabbed my camera and rushed out to find this sunny view of Mount Kinabalu with white thick clouds floating around. Well, never underestimate the unpredictable weather, within 30 minutes, this view was gone and the mountain summit could no longer be seen. The sky became cloudy and overcast. I had no luck in getting good weather and sunrise when reaching the summit of this mountain, 2 years in a row. Such is life.

Hi Bill,

Superb shot.
I am amazed, watching this. What made you feel this was not good for posting? It never lacks the attractions.. and has the moods of a fascinating day.
Excellent composition.
Well done, dear friend.

Hi Bill

I would like to travel to this region. I understand it has more types of orchids than ALL flowering native British plants.

A great place to use the camera! TFS.

I'm glad you posted this, its very pretty and interesting countryside. The trees are pretty and much different to the ones here. I really like the low clouds. TFS

Hi Bill,

I think you did a great job with this photo view of our majestic mountain. I myself have not yet managed to capture a photo of Mount Kinabalu that is worthy to be called a proper photo. I'm still trying though and you photo is a good inspiration for me to keep up the effort. As you said, sometimes the weather just won't give you a break especially when it comes to shooting Mount Kinabalu.

TFS.

Regards,
Alvin

Hi Bill,
excellent composition and colors
I like very much the clouds, floating around Mount Kinabalu.
well done and thanks for the interesting note
Bye

Hi Bill,
Don't worry about this picture my friend, indeed the valley look a tad too dark and unfortunately no details are vissible, nevertheless it is a fine and special picture of the "smoking" mountain :-) The clouds makes it look like a volcano. The two trees at both side creates a natural frame. A fine posting Bill.

Hi BIll
very good landscape photo.

Hie Bill,

Cool morning shot of the Gunung Kinabalu...it would be nice if there're lesser clouds so that the blue sky would be exposed to make a better background.

TFS,
Hong

Selamat Pagi, Bill.
This is an adorreble picture, when you realize the weather is changing with the minute.
I haven't many clear shots from this famous top.
Sure the forground can be clearer by pp work, but is picture is 'reall' as is.!
Good job and thanks for posting.
Terima kasih

A very nice dramatic scenery! It reminds me so much of my stay in Sarawak a few years ago, though we never climbed the Kinabalu (did the pinnacles of Gunung Api instead). In my opinion it's one of the most menacing peaks of the tropical regions and you have captured it splendidly! No doubts about this one, my friend!

cheers

Joris

Hi Bill,
I have experienced your sentiment about taking pics of mountains as lighting and the clouds hovering atop change frequently. This is well framed. Metering is effective as the peak and the tree to the left are adequately exposed. A good composition. Best regards, Danilo

Bill Hi:
Wonderfully beautiful nature and daily life presentation. Excellent POV and colors. Thanks for the note, as well.
Congratulations
Very Well Done

Hello Bill. Wake up in the morning take a deep breath and appreciate the fact you've woken up to another day. For many, the journey ended before you woke up. Be thankful for what we have, not what we don't have. Take a bit more responsibility for things in our life. Nobody owes us, we owe ourselves. Take a bit of time for inward reflection, it does wonders for the soul, simple and easy, doesn't cost anything but rewards greatly. Drugs not required. All we need is a view like this one. Stunning view of the low lying cloud with the peak so proud against the beautiful sky. Excellent attributes to happy feeling: being healthy, having enough money to meet basic needs, staying in a beautiful place like this and not envying other people. Love it and thanks for sharing. HI Bill
I find it absolutely intriguing, how just about everything went into silhouettes and this cloud drapes itself fitting very nicely. Its awesome.

Hi Bill,

This shot has actually given me a reason to take more shots of this mountain. To be honest, I have not done a better shot of the mountain than what you posted here.

The unpredictable weather is one of the challenges in making a shot of this mountain. I considered myself very lucky to have a fine weather when doing the climb recently, but not when I was away from it for a shot like this.

Regards,
Ramdan
P/S: Thank you very much for your encouraging words and support for my recent work. I am touched, really. Not yet finished with my appreciation reply. Thanks again Bill.

Hello Bill,
Very nice view and angle here.
Good contrasting color and light.
Very fine image and words.

Hi Bill, You were right to post this. What a spectacular view. I like how the light hits the clouds.

Hai bill,

From my point of view this picture taken was great, as it was in the morning the sun still at the horizon and only the higher peak of kinabalu will be lighted by the sun. The POV was the mountain. Great job and have a nice day.
