[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is my first time attempting a panning shot. I was at Nexus Karambunai last weekend with the wife while on a photography "expedition". I noticed this couple riding their tandem bike pass me and I grabbed the opportunity to practice my panning shot skill. I guess it turned out not too bad. Would appreciate any comments or critiques to improve the photo.

Regards,
Alvin

hi Alvin

IMO, 1/13 mayb not be enough to handle your own handshake, so it does not work well for panning. Perhaps you could try 1/30 and since panning subject is easy to find, do a lot of experiment. Nice to have a camera wherever you go.

I do like this shot, it has a strong contrast and a motion effect to the cyclists.

Hi Alvin..great panning shot..it would be much easier to have a faster shutter speed..like 1/60...you will lose some of the blur but you will have a sharper subject and enough blur to work.

Good luck.

Roger

Hello Alvin,

Nice try on this panning shot. First trial is not too bad, try with faster shutter speed to avoid the handshake. TFS

Hello Alvin. Fresh post and how I love your skill here in panning technique. I can't even pan a walking man...lol. Perfect choice of shutter speed blurring the background really well. Excellent work and very well done. Best regards. Jusni

i think Jusni wasn't alone about panning skill...i am learning that skill too.
