I was having a big stumble in a challenge with the overhead sun bursting its light along the rocky elevation of Tuaran River at Poturidong Kiulu. Without a needed filter system to beat harsh light, it was a midday that I had almost given up shooting. But as it was said, there is a possible hidden advantage in a lack; perhaps, it pushes ourselves and whatever we have to the limit, in a way putting ourselves out – something that would drag us to another zone of creativity and thinking.

For a reason, I had decided that I would never make it nice unless I could find a fairly shaded area, with a pleasing scene of course. My friends had done their shooting a bit faster and they made it far ahead of me, since it was easier to capture the beauty of the river with their CPL. I was quite slow, :-D very slow indeed; that I have to put an extra effort in an enhanced scrutiny for a scene that I could do well with my bare lens.

Dunk!!! Found this spot where I could have the water, the foliage and the mirrored sky, in a pleasing exposure… and I wish, really wish that you like it too.

Anyway, I still believe that with CPL and ‘some’ ND Grads, this could be done better.

Selamat petang dear Ramdan.
Can see you had some diffeculties with this shot. The harsh sunlight is hard to get good pictures.
For this one, I would have givven it a bit more contrast or shadow, it will give it more dept.
Did you gave it an extra sharpening? always carefull as the leaves makes that looking unreal. (imo)
Terima Kasih for the good note aswell.
Jan

Your exposure control is great. The colours are nice and soft, and I like teh reflections and the composition.
Best wishes,
Achim

hello Ramdan

Are you mad? Shooting landscape still at 1/15s? But then the result is really good and it is sharp! Quite unusual to find the reflection only partially on the water in shadow while the exposed water is clear. Perhaps CPL could help. But the effect might be different from this.

A rare result of this capture. tfs

three pairs of eyes were at the scene but only yours noticed the potential of this spot as a beautiful photo subject!

it's indeed adorable, not only the lovely reflection but within and behind it are rocks at the river bed that are clearly seen.

a beautiful capture and my congratulation!

Hi Ramdan,
stunning detail, photographic clarity and quality.
Interesting sharpness - with colours, reflections and transparency in the water surface all at the same time.
Well done.
Best regards, Daniel

Good morning Ramdan,
Lovely diagonal composition of the river. The focus on the reflection is most striking as it is sharp. and the greens are quite soothing to the eyes. A tranquil lovely vista. My compliments, Danilo

Tobpinai,

Jernih tomod gia itu sungai. Aramai mangkali kalau dapat mandi manda disana.

The view is beautiful, DOF was good, the tree shade and the green makes a good framing on the river. Composition selection always good from you.
