[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Kampong Tambatuon is a riverine village, one of the three riverine villages that sit beside the Kadamaian River. The other two villages are Kampong Kiau and Kampong Kaung with the former, closer to the foot of Mount Kinabalu. Kadamaian River or in English, Peaceful River is the main water line this part of the mountain that flows from the mountain along the Kiau Valley and becoming the Tempasuk River as it approaches the plains of Kota Belud.

The next time you come up to the National Park and you see a tall waterfall on the side of the mountain from the highway, that's the Kadamaian Waterfall which feeds the Kadamaian River.

And before that as you drive up to the mountain, you would see a much smaller mountain nestling at the feet of Mount Kinabalu. The natives here called it "The Son of Mount Kinabalu" and his name his Mount Nongkok, which you see in the photo.

Kampong Tambatuon, a Dusun village is on the west side of Mount Nongkok. Kampong Kaung, the next village is on the other side of Mount Nongkok, about 6 hours jungle/river trek away up river.

For landscape/nature photographers, the next two to three months, this village is a good place for shooting rice field with a view of the mountain in the background. The village is about 15 minutes gravel drive from the KB-Ranau Bypass Highway.

It is not difficult to find the entrance to this village. At the entrance of the village, at the side of the bypass highway is a bus stop with a red roof, about 10 minutes from the Kota Kinabalu-Sandakan Highway.

Rabani,
I like this photo but as far as technicalities go, I am having a difficult time giving this a great rating.
To me, the tip of the mountain may be the most important thing about this photo and it's nearly off the top edge of the photo.
I also struggle with the illusion that there are two mountains there (double exposure?) because it appears that one is on front of the other and it changes every time I look at it. It's hard to describe. Do you understand what I mean?
I like the notes you've left and I wouldn't want to discourage you to post a photo. Perhaps you could help me understand this photo.
Thanks,
Scott

Hi Bani

I like the lush greenery of this village, and your notes are very useful indeed. Since you titled this Kampung Tambatuon, I take it you want to place emphasis on the village and not the mountain, so to me, through my novice eyes, its a good capture. I can feel the cool air just looking at it!

However, I was looking hard at the mountain peaks - two of them - then I read your reply to ScottHale. That's pretty amazing.

Regards
Esther
