The Subject
This is one of the guest favours that are usually distributed as a token in the Malay wedding ceremony.

Traditionally, the "Bunga Telur" is a plastic flower with a hard-boiled egg attached to it in a net. However, the design of the "bunga telur" has evolved over the years. This is because with guests into the thousands, it would be a very tedious chore having to boil a few thousand chicken eggs (since about 5% of eggs boiled would have broken shells which cannot be used for the bunga telur). Variations of the "bunga telur", such as gift-wrapped potpourri, chocolates and sweet candies, are given out to guests. The “bunga telur” I presented here is a wrapped potpourri in a net with a plastic flower and some fabric decoration in a holder.

However, in keeping with tradition, the real "bunga telur" is still given out, but restricted only to very close relatives, friends and special guests.

The Shot and PP
The subject was put on a glass surface of a dining table to have a reflection for an added interest.

Lighting technique and setup that was used is fairly similar to my previous Bunga Telur. The warm light was put underneath the table to illuminate the details inside the holder, while the cool light for the rest part of the subject.

Coffee and snacks, as always, are part of the needs for the experimental session.

PP done was quite a basic – RAW conversion, cloning distracting spots, tweaking the levels for a darker background, resizing and sharpening before JPEGed for signing.

hi Ramdan

The exposure and setup is nicely done for this still photography, especially the sharpness and tone of color. Quite effective to see still shot using f/22 and shutter of 6s.

I am not sure if you have other shots, but I would compare another portrait format to include all the reflection on the glass because the dark space on each side is wasted, IMO. Good experiment to try new things and I think you really choose a good subject because this item is about Malay wedding tradition.
