[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is my experimental work on environmental portrait of a 'sunset photographer'. Light (using a slave flash) was coming from slightly below the model, trying to give a dramatic and cinematic effect, also an attempt to try to gain a little strength and impact to give him more prominence, also a balance to the natural beauty of sunset.

We were actually on unplanned weekend outing, chasing sunset but to no avail. The sunset didn’t really turn out. So, we opted for drink and spontaneously played an experimental portrait… :-)

PP: a little touch-up (by cloning tool) on his right side face (facing the sun light) to tone down the harsh halo of sun light reflection.

Assalammualaikum bosku, good experimentel work with your remote flash, the sunset color is nice and the rear sync is work well too, about the model maybe he need to be more natural looks he he he masam sia pernah jumpa ini orang tau :)

Salam Ndan,

sekadar pendapatan ja....sendiri belum pandai main lampu.

pasal ke simpang mengayau, bisuk kita binsang.

pasal Diamond Princess tu memang sudah ku nampak sejak hari ia berlabuh lagi.

bah, balik kepada gambal yang ini.....sememangnya bagus!

Salam
Agoes

Good work overall here mate! Not easy to balance natural light with flash, you did a very good job overall.

The slave flash light is a little harsh - I think if you moved it further away the light would be more diffuse and more evenly spread, creating softer shadows?

Rew

Great shot. Beautiful backdrop!

I like the light even though it is a little bit harsh.

I don't think moving the flash back would make it less harsh as that would only decrease the size of the light source compared to the subject. Maybe you could have turned one of those white tables on its side and bounced the flash of that. That would have made the light more diffused and also provided you with a much bigger light source to give more of a wrap around your subject.

I think the white table he is sitting at is a little too attention seeking. Maybe a pose with him and his camera an his tripod looking into the sunset?

Thanks,
Jens

Hi Ramdan,
I like the lighting and the notes explaining the setup. The lighting can be tricky but you have managed it well here. Nice sunset colors in the BG. The slave flash did its job and the subject looks properly lit. Nice work.

Kevin

Good optimum lighting here Ramdan. The photographer's face and profile as well as the beautiful colors from the setting sun are well captured. Well done and best regards...Danilo
