[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A penumbral lunar eclipse will take place on February 9, 2009, the first of four penumbral lunar eclipses in 2009. It will also be the deepest of the four. The eclipse will not be visible in the East coast of the United States, South America and southernmost Mexico, Western Africa and western Europe. Best visibility will be over most of Asia, the Western US, Mexico and throughout the Pacific region. It is also the last day of Chinese New Year celebration, it is also called Chap Goh Meh in Hokkien dialect. 2 days ago sunshine re-appeared after weeks of continuous rainstorm. Before ending the shooting, we came to this cat statue again at one of Kuching's oldest and busiest street - Jalan Padungan; it was blue hour. As I set f/32, it took 30s of this POV including 2 Nikon photographers [D200 and D90] that we saw 1st time in front of me. I suppose they were also shooting and standing quite still to afford me this not-so-blur scene of them at edge of roundabout. An embarrassing thing was about the tripod. They were using very good tripod, whereas I was using a cheap lightweight tripod. Now you know my weakness in this focus sharpness of 30s shot? I might be busy tomorrow, so I post this one today just in case I may miss the last day of CNY posting. Have a good week ahead!

Many cars and traffic passed through this roundabout, so the tail lights gave me a good cheefful red reflection on the road curbs. This cat has been seen in my earlier posting but this time, they put a red Chinese-styled coat on him. A few light and lantern are also put up here.

Nice simple nighttime capture, I like the deep colour of the sky and the red streaks of the car tail lights. Beautifully sharp.

Hi Bill,

Night photography at the blue light, always the right time for night shot. Nice sharp image with perfect exposure showing good details and nice color saturation. Tripod steadiness can be improved with external weight (water gallons supended to center colomn, or simply your camera bag if it's not too light. But quite impressive for 30sec image. TFS.

Hello,

Quelle doucueur dans les tons, avec le beau bleu en fond, le bâtiment se découpe à merveille, splendide.

Hi Bill,
good management of low-light exposure.
It's amazing how they are quite still (for 30 seconds - I guess they were also doing long exposures :-))

Cool.
Best regards, Daniel
