From my tour company's website (OTAM)

"Sum Khoh Burd. Built in the 10th century, this temple is on the same site as the ruins of a later palace, built around 300 years ago. The poet, writer, composer, painter and physician Danzanravjaa (1803-1856), supporter of Red Hat Buddhism, constructed a stage on top of the palace ruins for open air performances. The place is now abandoned but there are good camping spots around a lake."

http://danzanravjaa.org/

There was thunder & lightning around, when this was taken. This oasis is in the northern part of the Gobi Desert. Beyond the small lakes, the terrain in barren. My female tour guide popped her head up, just as I took this, but she adds scale.

Hello Chris,

An amazing landscape, and what is left of the temple tells the story of an early civilization in this area!
A fine composition, where we see some of the surroundings behind and not to forget the girl popping up...

OH WOW! A natural window!! Excellent idea here Chris! Nice control on the sky here, could have been a disaster because of the clouds! I hate clouds like this! Too much glare! But your shadows are excellent and the sky is under control! Nice work!

Hi Chris,
Love the natural window here. There is good texture from the bricks of the ruined temple, it is a bonus to see a pretty young lady on the bottom right, and the vista looks great. Greetings! Danilo

Hi Chris,
Interesting ruins and a very interesting note. The name Mandalgovi rings a bell, Mandal in Sanskrit means performing stage. Name very consistent with what you wrote about the place.

Hi Chris, Another very interesting composition in this series of far flung places, most of us will never see. The notes adds a lot of detail which helps learn this history. I like the textures of the broken wall. TFS. Murray.
The tour guide adds to the interest. Looks a happy soul, so typical of this part of the world.
