| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| A God in the festival for the dead, lifts his mask. The Newari custom is to honor the dead in the year they die, in a festival. Tall poles with pictures of the dead, yak tails, rams heads, mirrors and other objects are paraded through the town in a procession taking hours. Dancers dressed as Gods often lead the family members along the path. Live cows, cow figures, and stick dancers help lead the dead to find heaven. |
