A worker in Bhaktapur village in Nepal showing us the kneading technique of redclay, a process of which the making of pottery is carried out.
Bhaktapur is well known for potter's village of Nepal. Here, more than 6000 potters (1200 potter's families) working in the traditional pottery making. Out of which 60% male and 40% female are living through the profession. The profession is slowly changing to modern artistic pottery making. As present the demand of traditional pots (taken by plastic and aluminum ware) has been drastically changed to garden planters and other decorative. |
