[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Here is the second photo in the serial Children of the World. On a trip in Nepal in the Lang Tang area close to the border of Tibet I met this child. She is young and very dirty here skin affected by the strong temperature changes and UV. She lives with here family on an altitude of more than 4000 meter. This is close to the top of the Mont Blanc in Europe. We carried balloons and colour pencils for the children. You can really make them happy with those simple things. Nepal is really a poor country and to be honest I see no feature. In the city the live on 1 $ a day. In the mountains the don’t have money.

Paul

Hi Ruud,
Nice picture with very informative note.
Antony

Great shot Ruud, you really captured her cracked cheeks from the cold and the dryness of the altitude, I wonder how many baloons she has seen in her life? I also liked your note , very imformative, keep posting more I like this series very much, one can learn a lot from treklens besides photography I travel to different places through the photos of others, thanks,

I like the angle. Nice colours in the clothing. Well framed. Very interesting note. It makes me sad. We complain so easily and when I look at this then I have too much.

It is an excellent photo!!

Unusual POV Ruud makes this a striking image, the colours and the contrast make this a great one.

Chris

Hi Ruud,
Nice picture. I like the diferent composition, the contrast of the colorful colors of the girl clothes against the grey rocks. I like specially the real world in this picture, the dirt of the girl, her playing with the balloon (what would be trivial in our side of the world). Great note also. Very well done
Regards, António

I like it allt. It has good colours and a defined sence of mood.

What a sad picture, Ruud, with her cheeks so cracked and probably quite painful! I guess you can make your own happiness, wherever you are, and it doesn't necessarily require money, but it's a wonder that children even make it to adulthood in this kind of environment.

Thanks so much for sharing this photo. It's very poignant.

Gayle

Fantastic capture Ruud, you captured all the detail on the girl's face and hands, that show's the hardship these children go through. Very touching and heartbreaking image, that should send a message to the young people in the more lucky areas of the world.

Very nice and colourfull picture Ruud. Good pov and the light is just good. Well done.

Don

You enjoy picturing people Ruud; your gallery shows your preference; certainly more difficult than capturing objects, I imagine.
Dramatic note with the picture.
The colouring is great; these people are in spite of their hard living, proud people.
The picture shows indeed the contrast of the existence and the happiness of the child with the balloon.
