[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Porters in nepal, can and do carry anything, and everything. They would even be willing to carry you! They will pass you in the mountains, on steep narrow trails, carrying huge heavy loads, often for many days, little money. The wood on the roof is for show (Look how much I have), and can be burnt in winter to cook with. There is no heat in winter, usually they burn twigs to cook with. Once snow falls the people are basically trapped inside their homes till spring. No phone, no roads, no vehicles, except small planes land at the tiny airport. They must put the engine in reverse I heard, to stop in time. I first landed in 1996, in the river bed, but now there is an airport. They fly by sight. They fly so low, and so close to the sides of mountains, they disconnect any warning devices they might have, if they even have them (Kathmandu paper stated this).

Amazing... thank you for this capture. I love seeing things which westerners would find beyond bearing handled with ease by these hardy folk. I like the way you have three layers of scene here. The men walking, the roof and then no doubt in Nepal the ever present mountain face.
