| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| First communist rally (in the open) in Pokara, Nepal, 2003. This marked the beginning of Maoists kidnappings and bombs in Pokara, which had been peaceful in the past. I received a note at the rally, asking me, "sister" to email a copy of someone's picture to them, which I tried to do (email is so bad there). The note said this was a special occasion for history. Some women attending, told me to "go to my room, lock the door and hide". I was never afraid or threatened with harm, other than the warning to hide. I have since seen many demonstrations in Kathmandu. |
