[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A Newari festival in Pokara, during the 23rd annual Tourist festival. This is a small version of the huge festival in Kathmandu, Indra Jathra. The festival celebrates the Kumari, the living virgin Goddess. The Pokara parade had several girls representing the Kumari, music, and dancing (including this drum made from a can). Newari's were the "original inhabitants" of the Kathmandu valley, and are found also in other parts of Nepal.
