[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This liitle guy was sitting on this rock watching me. I shot off a couple and as I moved around the rock, I saw that the 'V' of the valley behind him juxtaposed with the boy would draw the viewers eye naturally to him. This frame is the result. The original slide was taken on a Nikon FM2 and a 75-150mm lens.

Hi Ken
Before I start - I see this was taken in 1997 so maybe it's not fair to critique it ... you were never expecting close attention to it. Still, this is TL and I have a job to do.

Some good, some not so good aspects in this shot.
Good: the location, the subject, the DOF. Nepal is a place most of us will never visit, so we're seeing it through your eyes. The valley, its sleepy village, and the Nepalese boy, are all great elements for a photograph. And with your Nikon you have used excellent DOF to bring out the boy against his background.
Not so good: composition, for a start. I understand what you were wanting to do but it creates a conflict. Is this photo about the scenery, or the boy? If it's the boy, crop it and get rid of the scenery. If it's the scenery, re-frame it so that he is there, but not in the middle of the shot. Make the sky bigger and give us less rock.
I hope this is not unwelcome - I love living vicariously through your photography and there's always so much variety. Please keep them coming!
warmest wishes
