Chicken delivery man
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| It's a long up-mountain walk from Pokara to the first main village to sell your chickens, at least 5 days, on the 2000 year old salt route. The cages are packed solid when they leave. This man has already sold most to restaurants that cater to foreigners. The mountain people keep their own chickens for the eggs. Only male animals are traditionally eaten by Nepalis. Most local people cannot ever afford to buy meat, and live on lentil soup over rice. They are exceptionally strong eating this diet! |
