| Goat meat hangs in strips from the ceiling drying. Tomorrow is the start of the main festival of the year, Dasain. The entire nation celebrates Durga's victory over an evil demon of darkness, and the end of harvest, with pujas (holy ceremonies) for the next planting. Everyone tries to have a bite of goat meat (maybe the only one all year), and new clothes. If not new, then clean and the best they have. Everyone tries to make it home to celebrate with family. A family is the most important part of your life in Nepal. The small metal stand will hold a pot above a fire of twigs. The pipe on the ground is to blow into the fire with to increase it. The food is so delicious! Meat strips will be placed directly into the flames. |
