Maoists stopped my tour to Tibet 3 times on the road in Nepal, before we even got near the border. They wanted donations. I have a receipt for my 20 rupees. We are left on the edge of a sheer drop, while the guide, conductor and driver, go off to town to arrange for another bus. The sun is hot, no food, no water. When they arrive in a rickety rusted bus, they announce no time for us to eat. We are late for the border. They also want us to pay for the bus they brought. I spoke up first. I had paid for the trip once, they cannot charge me again. Everyone agreed. Every trip in third world countries is filled with unknown disasters!
(I cannot find the correct state, can anyone tell me? Crossing at Zangmu?) |

Hello Gloria,
This is a friendly version of what I experienced in another country in the region... bus hijacking!
Unless the bus is aircon the place on the roof is to prefer, also from a photography point of view!
Greetings,
