[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Sunset from the roof of my Hotel in Patan, a mediaeval city in the Kathmandu Valley. Shot with a 210 mm lens through the smog. Other TL / TE members, have commented that this is exceptionally clear, compared to what they faced when they visited. The mountains are the 'Himal Ganesh' or Elephant Mountains, part of the Himalayas.

"The Ganesh Himal is an enormous mountain massif with nine towering peaks. Its icy crest is visible in the north from Kathmandu. It was named in honor of Ganesh, a Hindu deity who is represented in mythology as having the head of an elephant."

Nice color contrast! Grandiose et spectaculaire! Mystérieux et mystique! Very interesting view! Tfs! Michel

Hi Chris, beautiful shot! Love the contrast and the colors.

BRAVO!

See you on TL, Marie-José

Hi Chris,

You had a fantastic view!! The truth is that the smog is obvious in the foreground, but the background is magical. The mountains look great with that golden/orange lighting from the sun. Beautiful composition!!
Well done and TFS :))

Visiting Kathmandu I saw the Himalayas from a bridge in the city.
Not as clear you show us here. I think this is an exceptional shot

Hi Chris,
This is beautiful and dramatic. i think you would have been better off cropping the buildings in the foreground. But that is just minor. This is a great shot.
Sunil

I have the feeling somebody pass under and pull a big scratch on the light of the sunset. Is it possible? No! I like the effect it result! Wonderfull

very good shot Chris. TFS

Exceptional capture of an amazing landscape!
Great colors and composition. Very mysterious mood I must add!
Vassilis

good contrast and colors. Mystical and almost unreal....

The blue and the orange/amber compliment each other exeptionally well. Another great photo.

'Majestic' is the word that comes to mind Chris. The contrast between the orange and the grey-blue is striking.

Come to think of it, I have never seen the mountains that way, before. The best is from the monkey temple, and that is not much, this is th egranduer you see on an airplane.
