[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
this one was taken yesterday, same place as the last post, this boy, i am sure, is the sleeping boy's buddy... he's the kind of buddy that bugs you, like the donkey from the cartoon Shrek, and i mean it...

take yesterday for example, i spotted the sleeping boy, rushed home, grabbed my camera and ran back and thats where i spotted this little boy, something told me he'd bug me or the sleeping boy, so i took a photo of him first -- and quickly, without wasting time, took three photos of his sleeping buddy :) but this little one was so overwhelmed by my presence, that despite my 'orders' to keep quite, he began to wake that boy up, and that really was annoying...

he was really acting like that donkey character from shrek -- and this is the only photo i took of him, he smiled when he saw the result on the LCD... i asked him in his (and my) language 'pashto' 'do you recognize this boy in the photo?' to which he replied with a smile, "its me"...

i would have taken more photos, but with a camera as big as the d200, you really cant stay in one place for long, coz then people gather around you and the whole thing begins to look like a circus, ruining the mood and atmosphere...

just a few days ago, my friend Abid Changezi, a photographer himself, was trying out my d200, and in no more than 5 minutes, we were surounded by people asking questions such as, "when will this get printed in the newspaper?" "which newspaper do you work for?" "will you include my name?" etc etc... the people thought we were reporters, they started telling us about their civic problems, their law suites gone wrong, their land disputes and other spicy complains... while Abid and I missed the sunset shots..

it is in situations like those that one feels like having a compact camera, like the canon g7, or the leica m8 digital, or the nikon p5000, all 10 mega pixels, good enough for street photography.... but then again, the d200 is a camera you can't live without once you get used to it :) it grows on you :)

(i think with the last lines above, i should expect Nikon to give me a handsome commission and a free 'd2xs' :) heheheheh :)

thanks for reading this lengthy boring note :) have a great day, see you in a week's time inshallah :)

How is the note boring!? It may be boring to you, but when I consider the poor people in Canada I do not think of friendly/curious people I think of sour and just plain unmotivated people ebcause our government takes care of them too well. Yes that may sound ignorant because I don't know either side too well, but these people are CONSTANTLY given chances and yet they stay with their drugs, prostitution and other related crimes/lifestyles.

Now I feel foolish for saying that, poverty is horrible no matter the story.

I like this image it conveys a lighter and far more pleasant side to a hard life- what does the writing on the wall mean? Why is it there? Local custom?? The boy is a wonderful model, his face has so many expressions, and his body language is hard to get a grip on. This is one of my favourites by you! :) Later,

Biance.

I marked your note useful not because of the D200 praise that you did free of charge but because I think it is informative to know that D200 is a crowd attracting machine because of its size.

Not much in the picture technically but your note and title made it very interesting. I like how you compare him to the character in shrek.

Believe me Nikon would not give you a penny (or a discount) for your priase of D200. Already too many people are doing it (since it is a great camera). You are right about the size. One reason I did not go for the Canon 1DN was its size otherwise it was a better camera in almost every respect from 5D. I primarily chose 5D because of full frame and the size, which is just only slightly bigger than the 20D so does not attracts the crowd. Crowd gathering is done by my lenses.....:-) I dont like it since I would love to have a camera as great as D200 or 5D and all the lenses that I want is such a compact form that no body notices them....... I think I am talking of fantasy world..... too late to be awake and typing this...... I am almost asleep..... go od by e a nd tak e ca re .. snor........

Hi Muhammad,
Nice b&w, very sharp with good detail. Good choice of vertical format for this portrait. Its not easy to get this kind of images, excellent work.
