i still remember the storm outside the hotel room window that morning... i'd just returned from Dubai and was playing with the new manfrotto tripod...

the camera was set to shoot in timer mode, light falling through the window and manual focusing, of course! i calculated the distance between the lens and where i sat and focused accordingly... it turned out better than i expected :)

funny how we change over the course of time... if you see the workshop, you will realize how different (and neat) i looked back in october of 2004... and today, i look more like a killer-for-hire...heheh...

the glasses.... well, those raybans were amazing... i lost them two days ago...

this is the original frame, no cropping at all, just added grain and enhanced the shadows etc...

i'm also attaching links to the first few self portraits that i did with the olympus camera last year :)

interestingly, in almost all my self portraits, you only get to see one half of my face :)

thanks for viewing :) let's see what you think of this one :)

Interesting self portrait. Luckily the picture frame in the bg balances things out nicely. I really like the grain and the mafia type style to the image. My only gripe would be not enough white. The whites are too gray.
Well done though.

Salam muhammad,

great self portrait! mashallah,
nice grain effect...
nice pose, i like mysterious style here, looks like its from a movie or advertisment, you should advertise for rayban one day =P

good job =)

Hola,

Well! Personally neat faces (to me) are always more interesting than scruffy faces, though the most attractive actors to me tend to be the Clive Owen type, which in result tends to be the more scruffy version. So I can't say whether neat is better than a 'killer-for-'hire' :P

The grain is good here because it's not as strong on your face/skin etc. And Rayban makes amazing sunglasses, I always steal my Dad's when we go boating... though they're much too big for my head, I love the way it saturates colours... so lovely. It's a shame you lost them!

Well done, you sort of remind me of Bono in these... due to the glasses and the mild expression I guess. Take care!

Biance.

(P.S. School starts tomorrow!! :( ...Oh well, the last year!)

Hello Muhsin,
Great capture my friend. You looked better 3 years ago...... (Well we all did). Lately I have stopped comparing my pictures from previous years.... dont know why, I do that more for my kids now. I like the way you always leave the viewer wanting to see the full face. I have said it before, you know very well how to play with the light and if time permits, I would like to learn that art from you. Until then... happy clicking.
