the Pied Bushchat (Saxicola caprata) is a small passerine bird found ranging from West and Central Asia to South and Southeast Asia. About sixteen subspecies are recognized through its wide range with many island forms. It is a familiar bird of countryside and open scrub or grassland where it is found perched at the top of short thorn trees or other shrubs, looking out for insect prey. They pick up insects mainly from the ground, and were, like other chats, placed in the thrush family Turdidae, but are now considered as Old World flycatchers.

They nest in cavities in stone walls or in holes in an embankment, lining the nest with grass and animal hair. The males are black with wh

Wonderfully sharp picture and no denying that with beautiful colour and exposure. However I have spotted some recent trends in the nature of your desire to refrain from critiquing others work here. Ironically, the last time I checked your critique section, you critiqued my very photo which was my first DLSR post going back to March of this year. I know you are now a goldstar critiquer and note writer but I believe that should not stop you from continuing the courtesy despite your "status". I am being honest as I can and please don't take offense to this. Furthermore, your notes are "Wikipedia" extracts and would be nice if you acknowledged this unless you were a walking bird encyclopedia roaming around. Perhaps some photographic technique info/discussion could be shared by you as you are undoubtedly talented in taking decisive moment type shots and we would all love to learn a few tips from someone of your caliber.

So in future please keep this in mind as I thoroughly enjoy seeing your work being a bird lover myself. I just wish you communicated more and contributed to foster this sharing culture we have here in TL. Have a great day and happy shooting.

A lovely avian well captured. The sharpness of the focus is exceptional. The composition is very good with no distractions. The leaf actually adds to the image, otherwise it would have been a plain photo of a bird. Well done.

Brilliant work Zahoor.
The detail is amazing and the Canon 400mm's crisp and sharp focusing has earned its place in the market.

Not sure if you had to wait for this particular shot or if it was a chance moment, but whatever it was, it's very good work.
