Good subject choice and good positioning of your main subject. In all honesty though I'd say the aperture was too wide, and the field of focus is too shallow. Personally I'd hope to see the entire circumference of the post in sharp resolution - the background is fine blurred, and you would still achieve that with a smaller (say f/11) aperture.
