Candaba Swamp in Pampanga is (temporary) home to various migratory birds. They are specially numerous this time of the year (winter in northern hemisphere).

I'm don't know what species these two are (can someone enlighten me?).

The hardest thing about taking photos like this is the focusing, specially that the subjects are very fast. My 70-300 Nikkor is quite slow, so getting shots like this is pretty much a hit/miss.

This is a hand held (f/7.1, 1/1000s @ 300mm), tripod will be of no use, I did not bother using a monopod, I had no room in my bag for one. I went there on a mountain bike (68km one way).

Nice shot and theme for the photo Its like he's trying to guide the other bird on their flight. Very sharp for a handheld at 300mm that zoom is very shaky even on still subjects but here details of the bird at the back can be clearly seen. You can even see wing details. Job well done.

TFS...

Beautiful shot Allen! Nice details and the one bird is super sharp! I like the way their wings are, one flat, one up! Excellent shot!

Hi Allan,

Excellent framing and focus on these birds in flight. Excellent control of lighting and I like the sharpness of the bird trailing from behind.

Jusni

kakaiba ito sa gallery mo ah! Well captured bro.

tfs.......Buddy

A well caught shot Allan - a good focus on the bird at the front. Good exposure considering the contrast of light and dark.

Yo say "hit and miss"...you most certainly hit this one! Composition works well but the real beauty of this image is in the focal depth, the different wing positions and mostly the interaction between the birds.
Great work!

Hi Allan,

This is really a nice shot, you are indeed an artist, even at 300mm max. and w/o tripod you still manage to produce this very sharp image of flying birds, ang galing talaga.

Regards,
Allan
