Cebu is well known for it's sweet and tasty mangoes. These are the yellowest I could find. well, they weren't this yellow at first, but I did some PP work (I forgot how I did it, cause I was just playing around with the sliders in levels and color balance) and it came out super yellow just the way I like it.

This was taken by my new 50mm f/1.8 lens. I love the large apperture of this baby, though I find it a little difficult to control where the sharp spot and the blur should be.

Your exposure were to high and wide. If my mathematical calculation was right at least an aperture of f/8.0 and shutter speed of 1/125 seconds, will give you the proper effect on your photo, sharpness and contrast as well as colours will come out, photo editing or pp would be less. Good effort on this one. Cheers.

Oh Lemuel! I miss these! Philippine mangoes are the best in the world. In Manila they're about P80 a kilo. In NZ - when you can get them - they're $4 a piece!
Nice work with the large aperture, I'm envious, mine isn't as big! Hehe ...although I don't envy your struggle with finding a focal point.

Nice pic, Lemuel. It is a shame the focus is all over the place, but Jeff already covered that..so I will advise you to just keep shooting what you know -places, people and things that you are familiar with...before trying to get fancy with your lens.If you love what you shoot and shoot it as you see it with your naked eye...you are halfway there. All the rest is just technicalities of framing, compo, lighting, and so forth. Good luck! Oh by the way....I love Philipino food and if you HAPPEN to know a way to send it to the Uk...let me know. (wink)

Bonjour,
Beau plateau de fruits qui met l'eau à la bouche.
Bonne journée.

Hi Lemuel.
I have to say that Cebu mangoes are the best in the world, nothing even comes close.
I like the lines on your composition and shallow dof.
Black frame really blends the two colors wonderfully.
Excellent work.

Born in Cebu ya know..

one of the best mangoes in the world ! I know how difficult it's gonna be on getting a point of focus with the aperture of 1.8, the DOF is too shallow. I like your composition here however.
