Where:
Mines View Park viewing ridge
Baguio City, Philippines

Mines View park is a very famous tourist spot in Baguio (famous for its pines and silver jewelries). By 9AM in the morning, this place will be crowded with tourists having their picture taken with large St. Bernards and well groomed horses. The park is also overlooking what once was a mining community.

However at 5AM in the morning we have the place all to ourselves :). I guess most tourists are still sleeping comfortably. Baguio temperature ranges from 16 to 24 degrees Celcius.

The sun was still looming beyond those mountains and the fog is just starting to thin. A large mass of cloud on the horizon looks like its part of the mountain range. The sky was perfect!

With a tripod, I took 4 shots, maintaining an aperture of F9.0 and varied the shutter speed. I used a software called Photomatix to create a high dynamic range (HDR) image then used tone mapping to convert it to a viewable image.

It was a perfect start of a beautiful day (more pics to come...)

I hope you enjoyed this, I surely did!

Very good combination of warm and cool colours together with cascading hills create a great photo, well seen

Alaettin

wow, i haven't seen baguio shots like this... very nice indeed, the buildings at the bottom is distracting my eyes a bit but it adds a sense of scale, it just shows how big the mountains are...

Hi Allan!

excellent use of HDR technique to create a more 'natural image'. Indeed, I have yet to see baguio under such lighting. TFS

Lindo paisaje, la formación montañosa con las nubes es una vista maravillosa.
Felicitaciones Allan.
Saludos.
El cielo presenta algo de ruido, te recomiendo usar Neat Image da buenos resultados.

Good thinking to wake up early for this shot! It looks like a painting. Absolutely gorgeous atmospheric perspective and colors. The composition has wonnderful layering and I actually like the sliver of cityscape you included in the bottom of the photo. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Allan

Fantastic aerial perspective in this marvellous sunset shot, with wonderful, warm colours of orange / red, contrasting nicely against the cooler blues in the bottom part of the image. Well done!

nice. keep em coming

Beautiful colors. I love the misty hills, they really add to the overall mood of the photo.

Nicely presented. TFS,
David

Magnificent view Allan. Like a painting poppingout to the viewer. Excellent in every way.

Outstanding shot - beautiful colours and a stunning vista. I've seen Baguio from various perspectives and seldom as flattering as this, you have caught this city in amazing light and done it a great service.
Congratulations and thanks for sharing

Hello Allan!
I like it.Nice work.
Very well done!
Regards.

Allan,
This is a finely composed photo. Well captured foggy hills and mountains. It does show a hint of noise in the sky but it's acceptable. Shooting the dimly lit sky just does that. I like your conversion to HDR. This image gives me a nice, relaxed feeling.

the 'layers' in this beauty are absolutely stunning, TFS, M, (*_*)
