[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Here's a frame from our recent studio shoot at Art Movement Studios. Her name's Nikki and she's I think the youngest in our club.

I duked it out with a manual prime because I 'felt' I can handle it better than the AF-S.

This is my first time to shoot in a studio, and I was mostly on ambient lighting because I think I suck with strobes *huhuhu*

Well you achieved a very sharp result and a good deep field of focus given the wide aperture of the lens - congratulations on that. Good work too given your use of ambient light, those low light conditions can make it challenging.

Good performance from your model, I'm not sure that the cropped hand and sword-hilt on the left are an advantage, might have been better to keep those in; likewise the remainder of the blade on the right hand side of the shot.

HI Jo,
Beautiful provocative shot with the blade, I particularly like these kind of shots as I practice with edged weapons also but mainly medieval two handed broadswords so this has got an attraction for me. I like the pose, your model looks extremely seductive hiding behind a sharp Samurai sword in an I am going to kill you fashion. The PoV and the framing of the girl could be something from a movie shot from Kill Bill. Brilliant posting. Cheers

Try working at f/4 - f/5.6 of this lens Jo and see the difference urself.

Studio shots needs to show the complete beauty of ur model :)
U hardly (very very rear) u'd need the narrow DOF while using undistractive b/g :)

Thats just my opinion, u can (dis)agree ;)

nice work Jo.... for a first time its not bad... I like the composition of the photo... the only thing I guess is partially covering the girls beautiful face... just my opinion... but over all just add brightness this will be a perfect photo.... TFS
