| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| Pufferfish are named after their ability to puff up their bodies in self defence by drwaing water throught he mouth into a special chamber near the stomach. They have tough, prickly skin that is greatly strecthed during this process until the fish resembles a small football. To deter predators even further, they also contain poerful toxin in the viscera, gonads and skin. pufferfish have a mixed diet, including algae, and both hard and soft bodied invertebrates. They hide at night and active during the day. |
