We were in Cateel, Davao Oriental Philippines geographically situated fronting the Pacific Ocean with Rica's relatives from Davao City and Cebu City, Philippines.

Welcome to Treklens!
A tough assignment for your first shot - shooting a double-portrait against the light! Wow.
There is a lot you could have done better here: used flash to brighten your subject's faces, kept the shot wider to include the top of the man's head, and maybe positioned yourself so the rising sun was behind them - creating a rim-light effect.
Still, a smiley for effort and for it being your first photo here!
