[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Taken just near the location of my previous upload. Its been overcast the whole day and the sun just managed to "peek" during sunset.

Tech:
- tripod
- Hoya NDX8 filter on top of my CPL
- handheld Cokin ND8 (hard edge) - for the clouds, although not really necessary. I could have just "burned" the clouds during PP
- in camera image optimization set to LANDSCAPE (for more blues)
- white balance set to CLOUDY

The blue cast is right out of the camera. PP done for this were some slight levels adjustments and USM.

There really was nothing I could use for an "anchor" or foreground element on the beach. The rocks I eyed several hours earlier were all underwater, so I was stuck with a "bare" location. The trip was not really planned so I wasn't able to do my homework (tide information, sunrise/sunset times, etc). Excuses excuses hehehe.

I kinda liked the resulting mood, the contrast of the smooth sea and the trampled sand.

Thanks for viewing!

Hi Alan,

Nice tones, the image has 3 distinct areas, the warmth cutting through the cool blue light works well.

hi allen, yes you made the best of the situation, great composition and details, the blue color cast i like as the white balance was good thinking, its always wise to scroll through those options as they can really do wonders,
nice post,

Hi Allan,
great exposure management. The hint of the orange in the horizon adds some 'spark' :-)
Tree in foreground adds interest and depth.

Best regards, Daniel

hello Allan, a very lovely post I must say!
The heavy clouds looks just stunning. The tree trunk is also adding-up beauty to this picture.
Nice POV and contrast!
Good presentation!
Cheers,
Shubhi:)

Beautiful light and colours here Allan, nice layers of composition - with emphasis on placement of the foreground elements rather than the horizon.

The overwhelming blue tones are nicely balanced by the yellow of the sun in the distance.

I think the Philippines must have a monopoly on the most stunning sunsets, and this photo from you is another beautiful example! Even when there is just a touch of sun...it is truly amazing. Very nicely done.
