Gagamba- filipino/tagalog word means spider..we called this web crawler "gagambang kalabaw" literally means bufallo spider because of its size, some called it "gagambang hari" or king spider.

I really don't know the exact name of this spider and how big can it grows. As I observed, its golden web is strong and sticky that it can trap/repel a golf-ball sized stone.(yes, throw a small santol fruit and it bounced back) This one measures approx. an inch or more in length and those feet almost double the length of its body.

A trekker entomologist or enthusiast can shed light on this one..

Hi Roy, it's a nice specimen. We have one that is similar but red in color rather than yellow and lives mainly in the tree canopy. TFS. Of course, with 30,000 varieties, who knows! Some have never been cataloged.

Hi Roy,

A very nice capture!! Nice details and POV. TFS.

Kiran.

Hi Roy!
Galeng nito pre..
the image seems to jump out at you. Wonderful composition,DOF and lighting. The green background was perfect as a complementary color for the spider's yellow and dark orange accents.

Saludo ako!..

Ian
