[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Our dalmatian pet, Panky gave birth last last week to 7 healthy puppies. Her pups were cute and strong because all of them managed to survive unlike our pitbull's (Tyra's) pups, they died after 3 days becuase they lack about 10 days before they were to be in this world.
Luckily, Panky was able to take care of her pups really well. And now all of them has now spots coming out which is really cool.
This shot I took was the day after her labor. Good thing I caught her looking on the camera. It was hard to get the right timing for her to stare at me for the cam. So I had to be patient when I took this shot.

I didn't use the built in flash of my camera because it was day time so I made use of the good source of light that was there.
Sharpened, despeckled and contrast adjusted using Adobe Photoshop.

Hi Irene,

Nice closeup capture of this Dalmatian dog-family! Mother's pride is highly visible in her eyes.
The sharpness and POV are nice along with wonderful details. The cute puppies are looking so nice. Well seen!

Hi Irene

Good on you for using available light, especially given the very slow shutter speed; you captured a sharp image regardless.

Did you add some darkening around the edges in Photoshop or was that in the original shot?

Two details - 1. try a lower POV. If you crouch down below Panky's eye level, you will get a more intimate shot, and you will use that screen to block off the unwelcome background. 2. Always try to include every paw in a shot like this, cropped-out extremities like that are a bit messy.

You've done a pretty good job here though, obviously thinking about your subject, and your light, and your composition.

very cute irene...i mean the pups

i'm impressed with the steady hands. normally at 1/6 shutter speed a tripod or nestling the cam in a stable surface would be called for and yet the image came out crisp and clear.

good choice of color too for the floor liner, it created an excellent contrast against the cute white puppies.
