The island of negroes in the Philippines is known for it's sugarcane production. This worker is loading the rail cars with the harvested sugar cane. He will make 40 cents (USD) for every rail car loaded. On a good day he will make $1.20 usd.

Back breaking work for peanuts ...a sad part of life....the tonal colors are apt for this shot it almost takes on a 3D effect but looks to have all the atmosphere ...I hope you left him a tip for posing ...a $1.20 would have been greeted with honour

Awesome picture!

I grow up in Calatrava, Negros Occidental and my family was (or still is although my cousins are running the farm) into sugarcane farming. Things hasn't change much in 46 years!

a severe shot of very hard work...
this real world has still difficult situations, indeed.
but your this shot reminds me of the painting of Jean-François Millet. a man at work shows one common figure of working.
