[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This shot was taken last weekend at a volunteer house building program called Gawad Kalinga (which means giving care in English). It’s very much similar to the Habitat for Humanity where volunteers from different sectors of the society help build homes in poverty-stricken areas. Citigroup held a Global Community Day last November 18 where all employees in different countries across the globe reserved the day to give our share in making a difference in society by volunteering in various community projects supported by the organization.

I managed to take a photo of this old, rusting, dirt and dust-ridden bicycle while resting in a shade under the heat of the sun. I had just finished painting a wall of the new home of the family we were assigned to help. Despite its deteriorating condition, this bike has in fact, helped transport various construction materials like paint and wood from the road half a kilometer away through the narrow alleys of this village. Its contribution is a reflection of, just like all the volunteers who come here, the impact it has made in improving the quality of life and providing better homes for the people of this community. Let’s remember that anything and anyone can make a difference.

PP: it was bright and sunny, surroundings and construction area lacked color so I converted the photo to BW, adjusted contrast/levels to accentuate shadows and highlights, and added a photofilter. Thanks for viewing :)

Hi,
The composition is brillant. These double frame create a nice perspective and bring the bicycle out! Good job

Nice shot on the bike, Pedro. You were greatly able to bring out it's age in the photo, and it's significant contribution to the community through your note.

A slight overexposure on some parts, but a great picture nonetheless.
