This is a view of the river mouth in Paringao. Because of tidal actions, the mouth of the get to widen. The beach too in the area continue to be reduced in width. I estimate that about ten meters of the beach has been eaten by the sea. To protect their properties, landowners in the area have to resort to structural means to protect them.
As seen from the photo, the sides of the river mouth have been riprapped.
