[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
"Toto" in the title is an Ilonggo (a Filipino dialect) word of endearment that is usually used to call on close friends and relatives. To complete the sentence, "Kodakan ta ka" literally means "I will take a Kodak picture of you." Most Visayan Regional dialects use "kodakan" (derived from Kodak) to connote picture taking even if one is using digital or Fuji film for that matter. :)

We rode a boat from Caticlan going to Boracay Island. And on our ride is this boatman standing on the outrigger. He was looking out into the sea when I called for him to look my way. He flashed this smile at me and then shyly begged off from being photographed again.

Thanks for viewing. More to come on my trip to sunny Boracay! :)

A nice simple portrait my friend with good use of available light. Metering in direct sunlight is a challenge but you have done it well.
Congratulations

Hi Pierre,
Good portrait under a harsh midday condition. I remember having taken quite a few shots of Boracay bangkeros the last time I was there. I wanted their job to be outside on a beautiful tropical paradise all day. Good work. Danilo

Good candid shot. I like this type of photography. Your exposure is nice and even. The colours are vibrant.

Well I am glad you got this shot before he asked to not be photographed again 'cause he's quite a handsome fellow ;). His facial expression is wonderful, it's confident and happy, but very calm and almost sensual (but that could just be me...). Great colors and I love the use of lighting from the side, to show the contours of the face, almost half in shadow. I like the cropping of the top of the head at the top and at the left side, I would maybe crop off the lower half altogether to focus on that intense gaze. Really beautiful, nice textures and sharp, TFS!
