I think you used the fill-flash well here Mel, it worked.
I do think though a faster shutter speed would have helped. At 125, with the zoom used, there's some visible camera-shake as well as overexposed areas - on her upper chest, on her hat, and on the flowers in front of her.
If your shutter speed had been quicker you could have used gamma adjustment in PP to bring out the shadowed details without overexposing the brighter areas.
You could also have used the cloning tool to 'spread' the black background over the upper portion of the photo, removing the lighter-coloured area (and that object at top-right.)
