Day 1 (The Afterglow)

The quaint fishing village called Tambobong in Dasol Pangasinan embodies the very essence of the word serenity as dusk falls. Since there are no resorts here, there are no parties, no blaring karaoke or dance music, no glaring lights. All you can hear is the gentle sound of the waves.

It was very cold that night. We had this freaky chilly weather last weekend. My Protrek registered a low of 22 degrees Celsius (Philippine's weather bureau PAGASA officially measured the lowest at 19). That is freezing by Filipino standards, considering we are in a tropical country.

It was also windless. So I figured I can afford a long exposure for this one. So I set my aperture to f/16 (my fav for landscapes, great sharpness at least for the lens I'm using) and used an ND8 filter (can reduce exposure by 3 f-stops).

------
Tech:
- Image optimization set to VIVID (in camera)
- No tilt adjustments (thats what tripods are for hehe)
- No saturation! (you just have to wait for the right moment when the afterglow really gets saturated)
- No NeatImage(hurray!)
- resized + USM (18,40)
------

This is one of my "all too common" sunset photos which I'm really proud of. It's one of those times when I did everything right. :)

Thanks for viewing!

HELLO aLLAN,

tfs kYLE

Hi Allan,
Simply breathtaking; and I am envious of your living in paradise. In contrast to my shot, I can "hear" the quietness in yours. You can see the speaker in mine blaring the party music, but hey, we had a great time.
I'll look forward to catching up on your gallery,
Karen

Hi Allan

Awesome photo, great colours and sihoette. A nice piece of paradise. TFS.

Martyn

Wow! Such great colors and fantastic composition with the way the black silhouette fits into the frame. Such a nice shot!

haha ... forgive me, 19 degrees/ 22 degrees is a warm spring day in Auckland (and believe it or not, even Filipinos living here adapt within about a week to those temperatures.)

I do know that places like Sagada can fall to 4 degrees centigrade ... maybe you should camp out a couple of nights there, one January?

Beautiful composition, perfect metering.

hi allen, wow , what a shot! the colors are perfect, i really want to try more twilight shots myself as these results you have would be amazing to see on my own, this gives me inspiration, but it takes a good photographer to compose a shot and this composition is perfect, looks like tropical paradise! stunning, well done, thanks scott

Hi Allan,
Lovely sunset. Sunset photos are commonly posted, indeed. But not many of them are as special as this.

What I admire on your sunset shot: the detailed FG silhouette layering the faraway BG silhouette. That layering effect (as 'agreed' by my eyes) created a perfect layout to match the perfect exposure of the sunset sky.

Congratulation my friend,
Ramdan.

P/S: May I ask your permission to use this photo for my screen wallpaper? If permitted, then I'll attach your signature (Treklens: Alan Barredo)

Hi Allan:
