This is the shot I was talking about. A lot of potential.

1. He is not looking at you. You might have snapped at the wrong time. Or maybe you still have a better pose there.
2. Notice the shadows? You could have tilted his head to have 1 part in light and the other in shadows.
3. Dont crop (in the frame) cutting fingers, or limb joints. Cut them after the joint.

For the posing. You can call their attention then snap. You still get a very good pose and candid shot. Try it.

I like the photo,good light,nice colors
But it make me sat when I think that this kids have no place to stay...nothing to wear and not so much to eat.
Is unfair.
In mine hometown(bucharest) you can see a lot's of homeless too

Must have taken the photo after they had a swim judging from the hair which still looks damp.... good image quality. Nice capture ... I wish though he looked at the camera. Well done! tfs

Another good capture of the kids Karen I agree that it would have been nice to see less shadows in his face but on the other hand your photo depicts the natural shyness of the child too. His pose and body language tells it all.
