Preparing for a celebration, I believe this was a birthday party. The people are so friendly and so many strangers invited me to these functions. GREAT FOOD!

Another nice documentary shot - and I can't hel;p wondering what has caught their attention off to your right...one wee girl is looking at you, the others elsewhere. Nice capture of the smoke coming from the cooking pigs...i'm sure that lechon was as tasty as it looks :-)

Ay! Lechon baboy! Ang sarap!

... Nice capture in very difficult metering conditions, the shade vs. sunshine creates a real challenge, but you did ok here.

I do have to wonder with Richard about what else they're looking at. Another camera?

Hello Karen
Very original Bar-B-Q or Mechoui. Roasting two pigs mean a lot of people at the party. Another good cultural shot, bright colors and lovely people.
Thanks for sharing
Serge

Hi Karen,
This was one of my favorite food ... until my doctor gave me a stern warning. It is the crispy skin that I love most :) Very good documentary shot. A fine capture with good overall contrast. Well done! tfs

Hello Karen.
Always wonder, how come, poor people are so friendly to us, and (sometimes) not the other way round. ?
Nice daily life picture.
Cheers from Jan

Hello Karen
Ahhhh, lechon!!
Delicious, even better served on the beach a silky soft tropical night....
This is a fine documentary, these guys can feed quite a few guests by these two pigs!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Karen,
This is a lovely family-picture again!
Very nice colours and sharp details to see at this photo; well done.
Greetings from Holland,

No balloons and cake, but they seem to enjoy it just fine, even without them :(
Excellent daily life shot, Karen!
TFS!

Hi Karen,
Who's coming for dinner? The strong point besides showing daily life of the village which i appreciate to see ,has to be your light management control (extreme light conditions prevail here with the darkened pits ,the skin tones of the villagers and worse the highlighted BG to cope with , quite a challenge indeed.. )but i do not think one could have done much better than that.(pp perhaps )I say it 's pretty good stuff ,the roasted pigs and of course the picture ,
Good job,
TFS,
Carol

Hi Karen,
Anotehr cahrming countrside shot of these happy people preparing for their feast. The children look very proud of their culinary skills.
Regards, Tom

Looks like a happy celebration and that meat really looks yummy too. Did you join in the feast?

Wia

in the tagalog term we call this food lechon, i think it came from a spanish origin, again great capture of our culture, by the way it is a custom here in the philippines to invite everyone in fiesta or parties, the celebrant or the household cannot say no if you ask them that you want to have a taste of their food

one thing i know about the filipinos they love roasting the babuy.. i know because i once went out with a filipino guy.. :D and also working for short term in filipino company..

great capture of this place, Karen.. love the composition and detail. well done.

regards, terry
