We landed in Manila at 9:45pm. By the time we got to our condo in Leveriza Street, Pasay, it was nearly 11 so we fell straight asleep. But with my body still on NZ time, I was awake early the next morning, and out onto the balcony to catch a glimpse of sunrise over Manila.

Looking north, towards Manila city proper.

(btw time info in photo data is, of course, four hours advanced. Did I think to change my camera to local time? Why of course not.)

Hi Rew
Great view of the city skape..
I think a nice one would be of the sun rising & the buildings silhouetted(?).--just a thought.

TFS

Hi Rew,

Rising early probably provided you with the best light to show of this city. It is probably the smog of every big city in the world that provides extra atmosphere here.

Typical Manila, huh! :)) I like the colors and noise in it.

Jeruel

great view of a big city waking up together with sun; beautiful composition and use of the light;
btw maybe it's good to take some rest after a long period of continuous shooting your beautiful models?
tfs, regards - Tom

Nice early morning view Rew. It looks a large city.
Would that be smog? Lots of smog can show up as noise!
You look quite high up too,

Hi Rew,
The much awaited photo from your recent Philippine trip is now presented. Nice introduction photo indeed.

Not sure whether it is a fog or a smog, but it surely given a mood of welcoming morning to the composition. Looking forward for more shot from the Philippine.

Regards,
Ramdan.

Hi Rew; great morning shot. I get a sense of the city waking up and all the sites and sounds that go along with that. Reminds me of Guatemala, and being up early to watch the towns and villages as they come alive in the mornings.
Trudy

Very pretty early morning fog (or is is smog? :) A really good picture. Although I love the Philippines I'm not a huge fan of Manila. I look forward to seeing alot more of your pictures from there though. TFS

Hi Rew,
Beautiful view on this city!
The sunrise, passing throught the fog, lights the buildings so nicely! I like the gradation of tones from darkness, to soft pink until the powder blue in the sky.
The jet lag has its benefits. It allows to take so pleasant and moody picture! Bravo! Annie!

A wonderful cityscape scene. love the way the light just bounces off the building leading you into the city. I at first thought to much sky but looking again I like it just seems right now with 'layers'. Camera info one of the things I didn't think of either while trvelling I am sure many others have done the same. TFS

Hi Rew,
The smog here created a nice natural filter. Lovely warm cast from the sun ... actually I prefer early morning landscape shots in Manila because as it becomes quite hazy as the angle of the sun gets higher. Well captured and presented. tfs and hope you had an enjoyable holiday.
Cheers,
Renier

Hi Rew,

Good view of the Manila. It seems to be like Tehran, high pollution! I think that the focus is on the left nearest building. I prefer more sharpness on the far buildings. Good job! TFS!

Regards,
Masroor

Hello Rew,
Fantastic light and colours. The fog gives a very special atmosphere and the composition with the sharp building in the left is great.
Congrats my friend, mb

Hi Rew,
TFS this bit of central Manilla, i appreciate the nice straight vertical modern lines of the buildings reaching upward , the ornate building in the FG in warm tones is impressive even if only the facade is visible , a good shot,
Manilla must have changed a great deal since my visit in 1980 !!!

Carol

Hi Rew,
Great composition, wonderful light.
Excelent pov and definition.
Beautiful city.
Congratulations,

Best Regards,
Isa

Beautiful cityscape, I like the mixture of light and fog, the pink and blue tones, the distant buildings and the sun-lighted facade...

TFS,
Andreea

Great light Rew.

Nagsawa na ako sa Manila, medyo congested na. Kaya nandito kami sa Cavite medyo sariwa ang hangin.

Hope you enjoy your stay here Buddie.
Dennis

In my eyes you should do much more beside your portraitwork Rew!
You certainly have the feeling for it.

I know exactly what you mean about jetlag. Happens to me (us) every time we go to Europe (8 hrs difference). Up at the crack of dawn, and then totally fading before supper. Takes a few days..... and then reverse when coming back.
Cheers

hi Rew!

Sunrise is very nice...but architecture not!
Ugly blocks!
:)

I Like your POV...

I go to sleep on the sunrise u go to take shots!
Well done!

When I went to the South Island in 2004 Rew I changed my watch and deliberately left the camera on Oz time. The haze and the light created by it make this shot. Good colour and impressive detail through the murk,
Dave

Hi Rew, although the left side is a bit tight in cropping but I like this shot for the haze and the reflection of the morning sun rays in the buildings' wall, regards, ari

Very pleasant light quality and highlighting of the buildings with the delicate morning rays. I like the sense of the city awakening with the new day:) Good shot!.

Hello rew,

cant believe you are in the Phils... I really missed the city atmosphere and you have quenched the thirst... thanks a lot for sharing...

nice compo rew.. what i like is the sharp texture of the building in left side.. but you got a little distruction on your buttom right corner.. thou i love the way you composed it!

thanks for sharing!

It always amazes me how pollution and haze can add a wonderful quality to the colouring of an image. Rew your photographic skills cannot be questioned, the simplicity of this image is what I like, only broken by the building on the LHS. Nice compo.
