Hi Folks,

My contribution to this week’s Friday theme, an abstract from a stained glass art inside the Roman Catholic Cathedral of Manila.

A glimpse of the front façade of the cathedral in the WS.

About the cathedral: (as carved on the stone tablet outside the cathedral)

First cathedral built in 1581, damaged by a typhoon, 1582 and destroyed by a fire 1583. Second cathedral built of stone in 1592 and partially destroyed by earthquake in 1600.

Third cathedral built in 1614 and destroyed by earthquake in 1645. Fourth cathedral built in 1654-1671 by Archbishop Miguel Poblete and destroyed by a earthquake in 3 June 1863.

Fifth cathedral built in 1870-1870 under architects Luciano Oliver, Vicente Serrano Salaverria and Educardo Lopoez Navarro and was solemnly blessed in December 1879.

The centre of the cross on the dome is a reference point of astronomical longitudes of the archipelago destroyed during the battle of Manila in 1945.

Sixth cathedral was reconstructed in 1954-1958 under the direction of Archbishop Rufino J Santos of Manila, mainly with the support of the people. – Fernando Ocampo, Architect.

Thanking you in advance for viewing and your kind words.

Agoes

Hi Agoes

Beautiful stain glass church window here...but not really an abstract though....cold or other wise.
I like your POV and sharpness is spot on, but will have to just give a :)1

Thanks for joining the theme
Kind regards
Tracey

Hi Agoes,
Nice realization of this theme, very sophisticated pece of art. The blue base really makes the cold tones dominant on your photo. Sharp and detailed documentation of the facade of the church and a creative contribution to the theme. Good presentation, TFS!
Greetings,
Kristof

Great colors here Agoes.
I like the amount of backlight for each cell.
Even though it goes from light to dark, the amount works for each scene.
Not sure about the blue border, but the eye isn't drawn there so maybe that was on purpose? TFS.

The stained glass is telling a story in an abstract way. It looks like it is the story of how the Gospel came to the Philippines. And it is interesting to read it too.
Good sharp capture Agoes,
Janice
