RIVER SQUATTERS
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is a photo of the river squatters in Malabon. These houses are facing a creek that leads to Malabon River. This shows how the poor people live. Their illegal houses are made of "found items" in the street and in dump yards, like old corrugated and flat sheet metals, heavy cardboards, plywoods in different sizes, old windows that do not match, and other items. There are no insulations to these houses. So at summer time they have to wait for it to cool off before they can go to sleep.
The creek is already black from pollution. During summer months it emits a stench that only those who live there can withstand.
The photo is heavily post-processed using photoshop. I used layering and masking. I used about six layers and masked about 4 areas to get to this finished photo. I intend to make a watercolor painting of this, that is why I used a square format. Most of my watercolor art works are in square format.
