[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
One rainy April day, the organist of San Agustin Church allowed me to photograph the church interior on two conditions: no tripod and that I'll give him copies of the photos taken. After several months, I finally had the chance to forward him copies. I also invited him to be a TL member after learning that he specializes in church photography. The unprocessed photo was quite stark and dark, and would typically not be suitable for posting. Using Photomatix, I simulated an HDR effect by creating and merging three files with different exposures and by tweaking tonal balance. This is new to me, and I hope to get better. When I return later from work, I will upload the unprocessed original. And of dear, I notice a slight tilt.

San Agustín Church is the oldest church in the Philippines. The architectural design is almost an exact copy of the Puebla Cathedral in Puebla, Mexico. It has notable baroque touches, especially the ornate carvings on its wooden doors. The church courtyard is graced by several granite sculptures of lions, which had been gifted by Chinese converts to Catholicism. The church interior is in the form of a Latin cross. The church trompe-l'oeil ceiling was painted in 1875 by Italian artists Cesare Alberoni and Giovanni Dibella.

Have a good weekend.

WOW! Great DOF, Danilo,
Very interesting example of the Spanish baroque. It's not easy to pic a scene like this, notice the little inclination to right.
Greetings,
Raimundo

Hola Danilo

For a moment, I thought the thumbnail was of an ornate old railway carriage. Good linear perspective in the church interior. I would sharpen slightly, to compensate for the pp work. Excellent colour & framing. Tfs!

Bonjour Danilo.
L’effet de couleurs est asse spectaculaire sur cette image et lui donne une bonne originalité
Un post-traitement parfait.
Bonne journée.

hi danilo, yes i can see some PP work here and it is an interesting effect, pretty neat shot for sure, looks like an amazing place, i wonder why they let you shoot here but can use a tripod for 10 minutes? if more people were photographers they would understand the importance of a tripod! haha,
have a good day,
thanks,
scott

My friend ...

Remarkable vision,
what caught my attention are the details,
details to me, are all in church!
In fact your good taste in the use
of photomatix has much, much more beautiful.
Loved the arches and the light that emanates
from behind by them.
Excellent visual composition and fabulous!
Greetings

dear Danilo,

I am looking at a grandiose architecture here, and at a master work, you capture the soul of San Agustín church, in a stunning, impressive way, whether the lighting, the stunning details and the persepective... I like the silver against the hanged curtains, very rich composition.. feels like am entering the church from here.. remarkable work as always..

PS: I've been to this church once, I remember the arches from the outside.. beautiful...

my best regards Danilo

Hi Danilo,
An effective use of this HDR conversion! This gives interesting fluid colors and good contrast. Without the tilt, this image would be impeccable! Bravo! Annie

Hi Danilo, A very good POV and the rich colours of the drapes makes this a very compelling composition. The ceiling looks to be very well and artistically made. TFS. Murray.
PS I leave for Philippines tomorrow morning so will keep an eye out for some TL shots. I was about to contact you but now see you live in USA.

Helo danilo
What a wonderful shot and present of this inside this church
Excellent shot with lot great details
Cheers,Braca

Hello Danilo,

Isn't it funny how you can process a photograph and not notice a tilt, yet the minute you post it, it becomes glaringly obvious! It has happened to me more than once!!
Having said that, the photograph is terrific because of its great pov, creating converging lines, its sharp focus and its attention to details.
I think the organist will more than pleased with the result. (As a photographer himself, I am amazed that he refused to allow a tripod on the premisis! I see no significance in the refusal!)

Kind regards,
Bev :-)
